Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Day 'o Thanks to everyone!

This year I'm thankful for:
-A supportive family
-My fun & wild friends!
-My amazing fiance and our upcoming wedding, especially the fact that we're having it at ISU
-The fact that I get to be with my family on this day (minus Christian who is in Seattle)
-Simple things which I take for granted, for instance, the fact that I always have food, water and shelter, that I have a job/income
-That I paid off my credit cards this year!! (Big accomplishment)
-That I've lost nearly 25 pounds this year!!! (Even bigger accomplishment)

Friday After Thanksgiving

I was reading an interesting list not too long ago, one of those email forwards that everyone can relate to but no one really vocalizes. I'll post the list in it's entirety below but today I wanted to focus on my favorite:

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

The reason why this is especially hilarious is because today is the day after Thanksgiving so today is especially hard to concentrate.

First of all, it's Friday... My "moment of the day" comes far earlier on Friday than any other day of the week.

Second of all, there's literally 6 people in the office today.

Third, we're getting out at noon today.

This has basically pushed the threshold of my workability to zero. So I decided to blog about it, and it's not even that good of an entry if I do say so myself... I need to step up my game if I want people to actually read this :)

Anyways, enjoy the "Random Musings" below. For the record I had no part in writing this, I'm not taking credit for it but I think it's funny enough to share.

----------------------------------------------------------

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after BluRay? I don't want to have to restart my collection... again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this --ever.

15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damnit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

18. My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day "Dad what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How do I respond to that?

19. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

20. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.

***For the record, I decided to experiment with colors today.

Happy Thanksgiving!

There are so many things about this holiday, both good and bad that I can write about... seeing as how I'm just so darned upbeat it's going to be focused on the good.

This past week was a little rough for me, I was extremely disappointed in the actions of someone who should be closer to me but chooses to pay as an extra in the movie that is my life. Gah, I was so embarrassed, I was sobbing uncontrollably at work on Friday and ended up leaving around 1:30. The pain that this person has caused me over the past 13-15 years of my life is unbelievable and it's clear that he doesn't want to atone for his behavior. I've come to the conclusion that sometimes people aren't meant to be in your life the way you'd like them to be.

That being said there really is a lot to be thankful for, and I don't think we take the time to really focus on it each day. This year I'm extremely thankful for such a supportive and awesome family and friends! I have two older sisters and a younger brother, each of whom have significant others, I also have three nephews and a niece and my Mom who basically rules at life!! My relationship with each of you is what makes life worth living!

I just wanted to say thanks everyone! I love you all :)
